MagiPal®

Natural enemy attractant.

MagiPal® attracts natural enemies  - predators, parasitoids and pollinators, into the crop. Natural enemies are essential to help prevent pest outbreaks, and MagiPal® can help in the management of aphids, leaf hoppers, lepidoptera, pear sucker, pear leaf midge, thrips, whiteflies..

MagiPal® attracts the following beneficial species: Anthocorids, Ladybirds, Hoverflies, Lacewings, and Parasitic Wasps.

It has been used in a wide range of crops, including: Apple and Pear (top fruit), Brassicas (e.g. cabbage, turnip, oilseed rape), Cranberry, Grape, Hop, Wheat (open field), Tomato, Aubergine and others.

Use MagiPal® as part of an integrated programme. Integrated pest management is an effective and environmentally sensitive method of managing pests, which relies on using a combination of physical, cultural and biological techniques to keep pest numbers low. Only when results suggest that a pest is likely to exceed the economic damage threshold do chemical pesticides need to be used.

Using nature’s tools to redress the balance!

Pest species affected in trials: Aphids (e.g. Brevicoryne brassicae, Dysaphis spp., Sitobium avenae), Leaf hoppers (jassids), Lepidoptera (e.g. Autographa gamma, Plutella xylostella, Manduca sexta), Pear sucker (Cacopsylla pyri), Pear leaf midge (Dasineura mali), Thrips (e.g. Thrips tabaci), Whiteflies (e.g. Aleyrodes protella, Bemisia tabaci).

Active ingredients: A blend of natural invertebrate attractants.

Safe to use and pesticide-free.

Inert ingredient: Polymeric controlled release dispenser.

Longevity: 60-90 days according to environmental conditions.

How to use: Remove lures from their outer packaging immediately before use, but do not open the individual lure sachets, which release the attractant un-opened.

Hang the lures just above the top of the crop canopy, by attaching them to wires, or stakes using the ties provided. Do not pierce the lures.

Where to use: For use in a wide range of protected and outdoor crops. Apply the lures evenly in a grid pattern throughout the crop. Extra lures can be placed into pest hot-spots areas as required.

When to use: Use from planting to harvest.

Why use MagiPal®?  MagiPal® brings predators into the crop for early protection. It improves the distribution of predators throughout the crop, and boosts predator numbers in pest hot-spots.

Replacement: Replace lures every 2-3 months, or as recommended by your advisor.

Trap density: Place a minimum of 180 lures per hectare, evenly through the crop.

Integration: Can be used in combination with biological and chemical pest control.

Store lures unopened in factory-sealed packages in a cool, dry place (20°C, 68°F maximum).

Avoid damaging the dispenser, and wash hands with soap and water if the liquid escapes. Do not ingest.
